SuperHelp

Overview | ASP or Java? | Requirements

Requirements

SanScrip SuperHelp is an online Help system, designed to give on-going support to PC users of any level of ability. The SuperHelp system runs using any recent web browser, such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator.

Two versions of SuperHelp are supplied. The text page HTML files are the same for both systems, but the search program is supplied written in Java (for stand-alone PCs, laptops etc) and written in ASP (for web sites and Intranets). For each SuperHelp title you will find a folder of the HTML pages and each of the search programs clearly named to avoid confusion, e.g. wfw2000 is Word 2000.

Operating System

In principle SuperHelp should run on any Operating System which supports a Web Browser and has the latest version of Java installed. To date it has only been tested on Windows-based systems.

Web Browser

The stand-alone (Java) version of the SuperHelp requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or above, or Netscape Navigator 6 or above. Other Browsers should work fine so long as the machine has the latest version of Java. The Intranet or Web version (ASP) only requires Microsoft Internet Explorer 3 or Netscape Navigator 3 or above.

The Intranet or Web Version (ASP) cannot be run off the PC's own CD-ROM or Hard drive. It must be run off a web server for the search to work.

A Network connection is required for the Intranet or Web (ASP) version of the SuperHelp to enable users to connect to the server, which will be hosting the files.

SuperHelp is optimised for a resolution of 1024x768 but it can be run in higher or lower resolution.
